Looking for DAC

post #1 of 5

Could someone recommend me a simple, but good DAC?

It will be used as following:

Asrock Nettop 330 HTPC -> S/PDIF (optical) -> DAC -> RCA -> Emotiva USP1 pre-amp -> Emotiva XPA2 amp -> Klipsch RF82 speakers

Basicly that's all I need. I found the Beresford TC-7520 (http://www.beresford.me/products/TC-75202.html) very good, nice looking and in my price range. But it has a headphone amp, which I don't need.

Thanks, I will check out the DacMagic.

Any more I should check out before deciding? Budget-wise; I don't think I can afford anything pricier than the DacMagic at the moment.

dacs are numerous out there right now. but, for $430, you really can't beat the dacmagic.

it even has balanced output.
