What is AKG up to these days? - Page 2

I say all credit to AKG for having such a strong audiophile reputation, whilst producing range toppers at £210 for the open K702 and £160 or less for the closed K272. Their cans also last forever if looked after, witness how many and how much second hand AKGs go for on ebay.

My only criticism is they have had such a huge range with different cans using the same letter and number. I would love to see a full list going back to the 1960s.

I just sent an e-mail inquiring about a new flagship, It will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

I wonder if AKG is planning a new flagship - it would be interesting to know if the HD-800, T1 and PS-1000 are living up to sales projections. I think all of those were put into production a bit before Depression 2.0 kicked off; this might not be the best time to introduce new high-end products.

I do hope they introduce a proper successor to the K-1000. Or, hell, reintroduce the K-1000. If they price it below the HD-800 and T1, they'd likely make killing off it.

well, from all i gather, beyer had a really hard time meeting the demand for the T1 when it was priced at $999.  so - when the equation is tilted in this direction you can either increase supply or decrease demand to solve the problem.

and, beyer couldn't make the T1 any faster, so, to decrease the demand they raised the price to $1299.

i know, i know.  that sounds like it doesn't make any sense.

but, people are willing to pay more for a pair...  so beyer tested that demand.

even in this economy...

so, i think AKG, er, i mean Harman International, should get off their keester and introduce a new flagship product.

it might be a cottage industry, but heck, those are the ones flourishing in this environment.
