Let's not forget a nice little CMOY.  If you're going to DIY for the first time, I'd look into making one of them.  There's kits on ebay as low as $18.  Buy some altoids at walmart when you order, eat them while you wait a few days, then build it.

I don't know how well a CMOY would play with the SRH440's in particular, but I loved my CMOY with some KSC 75's.

If you're considering a FiiO E3/E5, then get build a CMOY instead.  IMHO, you'll like it more having built it and for the sound quality.

Has anyone tried a FiiO E7 amp/dac with the 440? I'm primarily listening on my work computer which has a pos soundcard so I think the DAC would be at least as important as the amp? But is it going to significantly improve the 440s performance to be worth the cost of the HPs themselves?
