Anyone ever see one of these?

Saw it on ebay, thought it was a great idea - I just wonder about the sound quality. Anybody already buy one? Wish the shipping wasn't so high...

They also have a DAC version:

Seems alot like that Arcam unit thats due out later this year! Has this been done before? It seems like an interesting idea to me, especially for those with laptops. sp70.

They do look interesting. I reviewed a similar product (see sig, the JHC A2) but it goes one step further and has a built in headphone amp, and unfortunately you can't just get the digital (or analog) signal out from the receiver..... so headphone listening only. The stuff you linked to would be good for running from a desktop PC to an AVR/integrated/whatever main stereo setup you have.

The technology seems to work quite well and I think once some mainstream company releases a more polished version, they might become more popular.

PS I still own and love a JVC surround receiver (JVC RX-D701) that does something similar as well. It is a few years old by now, but has a wireless USB key that plugs in to your PC and shows up and a soundcard device. It then streams the audio to the main JVC unit, which decodes it and plays it back. Sounds pretty good but not great, but certainly ahead of its time.

I got the HDAP-01D, great when coupled with an SDD!  A few firmware bugs...no idea if there are plans to have these fixed!
