Lost my Sony x1060 what to do? Cheap solutions?

Thread Starter

Hi

As the title suggests my sony x series Walkman has been lost for all eternity (along with very expensive hi end headphones!) and I need a replacement. I cant stomach paying £150 for the newest A series Walkman, especially as that is 16gb and my x was a 32gb so I was wondering if any of those lower cost sony walkmans (or any others)) are a patch on the x series in terms of SQ?

I have read that the S545 is very good but would I notice a discernible difference in sound quality compared to the X or are all the sony models pretty much the same SQ?

Thanks for any help

Some say the S545 is great for its price.

I think it is, but IMO you're better off saving $20 and getting the E345 instead, its little brother. Identical sound, a smaller screen, and 10 hours less rated battery life, but smaller so more portable.

One thing to consider, is the S545 uses the traditional Sony cable, so maybe one of the LODs that have popped up recently would work with it.....the E345 connects with a mini-USB, like the Clip+ does.

Well, for the ability to add the LOD it is worth adding the $20 IMO.

I'm sure it would be for a lot of people. I only have cheapo amps, so I don't honestly know if I would hear a difference or not. If I had something better, I'd certainly think about the LOD.

Just suggesting that the S545 may be a bit more future proof if you decide to get a better amp.
