These pm limits are post-Huddler, and while they do seem a bit drastic in the extremely small number of personal messages that can be sent with a low post count, I can see how some sort of limit is certainly called for. I probably would have set it higher at 5 or more likely 10.
Roby, I'm sorry you are 'being punished' by this, but it does serve the greater good. It is assumed that if you are a social reader you would also have a post count indicative of your involvement in the site. Someone who wishes to pm often seems to have things to say, so the post count limit is largely a non-issue.
One easy way to get past this might be to put together a few reviews of the products you own and share you thoughts with the rest of us. You don't have to defend them if you are worried about that. They are just your opinions and the more good reviews we have the better the site is for it.
