I have a 20 year old Technics SA-424 Stereo Receiver (Quartz Digital Synthesizer... whatever that means).

I dont want to throw it away because it has sentimental value.

I am trying to use it as a headphone amp for my Grado sr325is.

The problem with it though is that it Crackles and hisses when you turn any sort of knob on it.

I have found out that I need to spray some contact cleaner inside the knob mechanisms.

The thing is, I cant seem to detach the faceplate completely off (and find "the area" to spray the contact cleaner) after I take out all the screws. I am only able to get it loose and on an angle/slant , because it seems the plate is connected with wiring to other things.

If I post some pictures can someone give me so tips, advice, recommendations?

Maybe there's something else that needs fixing/doing that I cant see.

*BTW, I'm not very electronic lingo literate, so if you say find or look at the "pots, potentiators, amp, / some specific circuit", I dont think I will know were that would be" So if you have some patience and time to spare and help a fellow headfier out, please do! It would be much appreciated*

Thank you
