Grado extension cable effect SQ

A question for fellow headfiers who have or owned a pair of  the higher end grado's;

Q)  Does the stock extension cable supplied with the higher end Grado's have an effect on sound quality when being used, in my case the ps1000's?

thanks in advance.

I have not noticed any degradation with SR325i's, but I don't use the extension cable in a highly resolving system.  But heck, let's me enjoy the music when I am in that room !

I think it's a great extension cable and doesn't take away too much from the sound at all. It does add a little graininess to the sound. But for the money, hard to beat.

There are better, but you'd be looking at 2-3x the cost (if not more).

Yea... IMO I hate it when I need to buy an extension cable or adapter to put into my system. From what I found you can't just get some radio shack branded cable when you're using highly resolving equipment; I have to resort to getting a high quality interconnect/adapter to keep the sound clean.

Example? I bought a blue dragon cable for my K702s off of someone on here. Unfortunately it was terminated with a 1/4th adapter and I'm using an ALO Rx. I went to radio shack and bought their gold series 1/4 to 1/8 adapter. I liked the cable. However I knew there was better.

I went and bought a matching Blue Dragon adapter cable from their site. Cost of adapter cable? 63 total. Plugged that up and the result? The sound was a LOT better. Did I want to spend that much? Heck no but the results aren't anything to complain about, and like the description stated; I love that I'm getting some more emphasis in the lower end with these phones.

You get the new thicker cable with the ps1000's but grado send out the same old extension cable, which is thinner in comparison. Just seem's wrong using it.

This is the one that I have and it is so good that I can't hear that there is even an extension cable in between my headphones and amp:

But as I mentioned, it would cost quite a bit more than the Grado extension cable. I do agree with your comments on why use a thicker cable on the headphones and still only offer the thinner extension cable.
