They will not sound worse than T50ps, ever. 

 

If you are not looking for transparent, detailed sound with not much bass, T5ps are not for you. 

 

Maybe look at the newer version of t50ps - DT1350s or maybe AT ES10s

I asked this question in the T1 thread, but since the answer could also come from folks involved in this thread, I figured I would ask it here as well:

 

Does anyone know if the T1 will fit in the felt case that comes with the T5p?

 

The case is also sold as a standalone accessory, so I was curious about the possible pairing.  Thanks!

Thanks for that.  I figured that since the cans themselves seem to be the exact same size, it should work.  I wasn't quite sure though if the thicker and longer cord of the T1 would add too much additional bulk to allow them to fit.  It's good to know that it will still work.

According to Beyer, T5p has better ultra deep bass compared to T1 and 880/890, but ultra deep bass is rarely use in music.  Even in movie I come across good bass response from T5p only in specific scene when the LFE carries ultra deep bass, other than that the bass is not kicking at all.

how is the soundstage size compared to the dt series and the t1, i know its not fair to compare, but i still want to know.  I absolutely love my dt770 32ohm right now, i love the beyer sound but i am still torn between this t5p and the edition 8, im after soundstage before anything else in a closed back set.  They are the same size as the 770 arent they?  

 

 

 

I have not heard any of the phones you mention, but comparing my T5ps to all other headphones I have I have to say that their soundstage is really good for a closed headphone. I would not dare compare it to T1, but definitely it is really good for a closed can. Positioning is also great. I watch mowvies using these and am very with their performance in this field.

Today I got T5p for review(and our Prague meet) from local distributor. Now I'm listening just from Udac-2, but on monday I should get  M2tech Young (also loaner for review).

diffused, smears some finer details.

the Tesla drivers are much much clearer than those in the DT series...

T1 being an open can, has a wide airy unblocked soundstage,

the T5p is a tad hall-ish but not as much as a sony Z1000/W5000 kind.

 

Y i love the DT770/600ohms, its got a flatter-wide soundstage which i love for classicals.(vs the T5p)

Comparatively, the T5p gives me the impression that halogen lights have been turned onto the music...

there is that accentuated clarity..love it or hate it..u can hear some comments on that in this thread.

I did a swap, switched the leather pads of the T5p onto the DT770...

and the DT770velor onto the T5p. Must say some kind of a strange miracle has happened.

The T5p's halogen effect has toned down a notch, and not as hall-ish as before.

And the DT770 with the leatherpads is more clarion and more "awaken".

Both cans are sounding more like each other in their signature...

the T5p widening up, and the DT770 having a cleaner shine..

and both sounded better to my ears than previously.

 

If i must choose between these two..i would likely keep the DT770/leatherpads.

 

PS: think i will get a J$pad and experiement further.

This is getting interesting.

Edition 8 has a wide  soundstage like the dt770 without the hall-ish effect of the T5p..

it has high clarity, without the halogen effect of the T5p..

and sometimes i can feel the rumble of the bass on the ears.

with this headphone, i get tempted to turn up the volume really loud,

just to enjoy the spatial effect.

I love this Ed8.

Edition 8 has a wide soundstage? It's so interesting how we hear things differently...the very first impression i had listening to them was how narrow and closed in the soundstage was...outstanding clarity & dynamics but i felt the narrow soundstage spoiled it for me. Oh well.
 

 

I thought the 'hallish' reverb and diffused sound stage made T5p sound unnatural/smeared some finer detail easily audible on Dt48e. I definitely didn't like that,but I know its not a big deal to some

has anyone tried using the dt770velor on the T5p? 

u prefer it to the leatherpads?

 

i seem to prefer the velor over the leather, it just  broaden the soundscape abit more...(flatter)

will put in more hours to confirm it in my soul.

 

edit : i just fitted a black AD2000 velor pad onto the T5p.. nice!!
