That's why car audio is full of bloated, boomy bass.  You can make it loud enough to get through without causing hearing loss.

I guess you have heard lots of bad car audio systems then.  My buddy has an SUV with Focal seperates throughout..........with roughly 500watts to them, he also has 1100 watts to 3 10" Kicker  L7s...........sounds amazing.  The highs/mids come through with great detail and accuracy.  The sub balances beautifully with everything.  Not all systems are created by 15yr olds that run stock front end with 8  15's in the trunk.

Do all those details come through with all the windows down while doing 80mph on the interstate?  Without deafening everyone in the car?

I'm not saying you can't make a system that will sound great on all levels.  I'm saying it will usually only sound that way when the car is sitting still, which sort of defeats the point of putting it in a car.

Can't remember last time I drove w/ the windows down at 80mph.  Maybe I prefer good music over wind noise, call me crazy.    Some cars are quieter moving than others stopped and idling.  Lexus was getting into trouble because drivers couldn't hear sirens from emergency vehicles.

Anyway, muddy bass.....

LOL............some dont know anything about car audio.  Anyhow, muddy bass..........yep, I think Ive got it.  I think?  I still prefer good low end with my IEMs.  Earbuds like the Superfi 4s will never cut it for me.

I prefer music to wind noise, but I prefer the wind in my hair to the music.
