When using Rockbox to alter channel balance and such (to make up for possibly unbalanced IEMs), is there any degradation in quality?

My left IEM seems to be a little quieter than my right, so the vocals seem to be off-center by a bit. If I was to use a scale where (-10.0) is all the way left, (0) is perfect center and (+10) is all the way right, I seem to be ~ (+.5 to +1). If I use Rockbox balance control, will changing the balance be a good, long-lasting fix? Or would you not recommend doing this (i.e. sound quality is diminished because I'm only mimicking the balance).

The only reason I'm asking before trying it out is because last time I used Rockbox, my Fuze died and I had to replace it. But it seems like that was just a bad coincidence as others seem to have great success with Rockbox...

Sorry for the long winded response, I just wanted to see what others thought, thanks!
