I have had it for a couple months now, I have to say I like it better than Yuin PK-1.

PK1 seems to have a wider soundstage to me, but the TM5 has a better depth soundstage which makes the music more realistic to me. The PK's soundstage sometimes seems two dimensional. This is not to say that TM5 is not wide, just not as wide.

Bass wise, I like the impact better than the PK's.

The high, I would have to say about the same.

The midd, I definitely like the TM5 better. The word that came to my mind is "sweet and emotional" whereas PK sounds a little unattached depending on the song.

wow seriously?  the pk1 has a wider stage?  ....whoa thats a life saver for me, saving me 180$ right there lol.  I'll stick with my mx980 that 3xed the stage of the pk1 lol

Definitely would love to get a pair of these.  I am thinking about bailing on my PK1's actually.  I have burned them in for about 400 hours and put about 20 or 30 hours of listening time on them, and I just can't seem to get into them enough.  I know people are going to tell me I'm out of my mind, but I actually prefer my PK2 over these.  Not the bass, but everything else.  so, I really would like to jump into the TM5 I think.

ArmednInsane

do you still own the PK1?  I would like to find out of the size of the housing is the same as the PK1 or if it's a little larger like on the PK2.  That little bit of difference is a lot to me for long wearing.  I like the size of the PK1 over the 2 for sure.

Just checked their site last night.  They are already sold out again.  They must produce very small quantities.  Does anyone in the US own these?  I just noticed that their site says you are responsible for customs.  Was there any hold up or additional cost getting these things past customs?

I got them in Italy and I paid 195$ + 22€ of custom taxes...

In the box there is a little booklet saying that they produced only 250 samples...

I own both Yuin OK1 and Blox TM5 with more than 20 earbuds and I can confirm that default sound signature with flat source is more bass biased on the TM5 than any other I tested...

But If I equalize the source to pull out more bass the Yuin OK1 sounds warmer and rounder than TM5 giving the impression of a bigger 'full-can' earphone. So the bass impact is higher on the TM5, like a kick in your ear, but the bass weight becomes higher in the OK1 if correctly amplified and equalized. OK1 can also reach a higher volume level than TM5 maintaining a perfect sound reproduction.

I'm in a dilemma right now. I currently have the PK1 and been using it for almost 7 months now and until recently, I just found the perfect tweak for PK1 using a rockboxed Fuze and T4 amp. PK1 tends to emphasize bass in every type of music you put it through. To be fair, it does not distort/intervene with the other parts of the spectrum but using an amp, it sometimes becomes too much. So I equalize and adjust. Rockbox has been very good in its implementation of sound tweaks through its equalizer, crossfeed, stereo width, etc. Lowering the bass by 2db and increasing the treble by 2db, balances the overall sound. I also raise the mid section of the equalizer by 9db to let the mids come out more and finally turn crossfeed on and stretch stereo width to 120% for much bigger sound.

So to make it short, I enjoy my PK1 a lot. But having read all these reviews about earbuds comparisons specially those by kostalex, makes me think, could there still be more to what I currently have? I am now confused whether buying a new set of earbuds will further enhance my listening experience. One thing I like about with PK1 is the fun factor it has. You forget about all the technicalities of music and just sit back, relax and enjoy the PK1 ride. And it's very comfortable, too. I'm just wondering if upgrading is necessary. Will the difference be large and enough to justify the cost? The following are the ones I'm eyeing right now:

1. Blox TM5 (Limited stock, limited reviews and testimonials, the best bass ever for an earbud?)

2. Yuin OK1 (much power hungry than PK1? might not fit my ears? lack bass weight than PK1?)

3. MX980 (Limited reviews and testimonials, still new in the market (not the brand), not the usual bud style of wearing, unconfirmed reviews)

Hope anyone could help me decide. Thanks.

get the mx980 and get this dilemma over with

the tm5 has more mid bass punch but mx980 is clearly the clearer sounding of the 2

and also has the low bass rumble i crave for

such an amazing earbud for its size too

design sound build quality and comfort are top notch

and the best part is no need an amp to sound great

but an amp will give it more juice

Thanks 2rooi123. Appreciate your response. More opinions please. I think it's better to know how many have bought each of these and how many of them have kept them or have sold them because they don't like them. The MX980, even still new, have already made it's way to the For Sale forum. I only saw one for TM5. Some for PK1 because most of them have upgraded to desktop or home systems that's why no need for an earbud. Still some for OK1 but very limited. I don't think if I'm correct but most of the OK1 keepers are those head-fiers with the most post counts - the supremos. Also some have the PK1.

Btw 2rooi123 from where are you in the Philippines?

TM5 still out of stock. Emailed them but got no response.
