EDIT: sorry for the time being I think I have fixed it, please read the green at the bottom :D

Hi all, i have just attempted to make the Chu Moy Headphone amp to the specification given by Tagentsoft, and I have had a blast doing it. My soldering skill have progressed from horrendous to poor.

Problems:

When I plug in an input source in this casethe head output of my Behringer UCA202 sound card, I get an output (sigh of relief). Problem is this, the output is not very 'amplified' in fact I think I can get louder without distortion without it ; although it is definitely loud enough for indoor use.

There is also a lot of 'noise' coming through especially at it louder volumes, (kind of where I would want to be listening to it at), sounds a bit like white noise with a faint high pitch whine as well. Finally there is not much definition in the sound.

Any help with these issue would be great .

More info:

I am currently using just some comparatively cheap Sennheiser HD215's which clock in at 32ohms.

The R5 position is currently just shorted as recommend, but I thought I would ask here first seeing as a lot of you have tried this before. Also I am not entirely happy with the C2 caps I have used, they are only rated at 50v and are not the axial style used on the tutorial, but they are all RS components had in stock at 100micro farads.

The OPA I am using is the opa2134PA, and I have the 2132 on back order to tey them out but they aren't coming in till a month , good job I used a DIP. I am also using 2 new 9V PP3 cells, which I have tested.

Also the gain is currently also at the default 11. I have some spare 2k resistors which would change it to 6. but would that just make it quieter?

One final thing, is it right that OPA get a little hot, it's not roasting, but you wouldn't want to keep your finder on it for to long?

Thank You very much

PS: I know picture help, but i don't have a camera right now, but I'll work on borrowing one.

Are the caps i have used suitable for the amp? They work and it sounds OK, but i am not expert.
