What's the use of uDAC's digital output ?

Hi

I've always thought that DAC converts digital signal from f.e. PC (delivered through S/PDIF) to analog signal (RCA) which is then able to be amplified and then send to headphones.

But if uDAC has S/PDIF output doesn't it mean that audio signal will be still digital and DAC won't work, or will it be only digital AMP somehow ?

DAC won't work then yes. It will send a digital signal to another DAC which is quite convenient since uDac onlyhas one digital input (USB) and so you can connect another DAC to the existing udac and you will be able to connect more digital devices.

thanks a lot, a few more questions :

is there any benefit ? Woudn't it be easier to connect straight that DAC which I want to use (not using uDAC) ? Will the uDAC work as AMP than ? (is it possible to amplify digital signal ?)

No, I think it just acts as a digital transport. it will accept USB input and output via Optical.
