By the way, has anyone here checked the recent japanese SHM-CD reissue of this classic album? What's your impressions about it?

I wish I could find where I read it, but I heard it was no good - i'll try and find it again. Also, I am way too excited about this release, probably my favorite album, getting released in its full 24/96 glory. sp70.

Thank you for the advice. It may prevent myself to spend a lot of money for something not worth the price.

Amongst many other rock/pop SHM-SACD announced....

The Who - Who's Next

Dire Straits - Dire Straits (debut album)

Blind faith - Blind- Faith

KISS - Destroyer

As to whether these SHM-SACDs sound good or bad, no one knows.  After all, they've yet to be released.  I've pre-ordered The Who and Steely Dan already.

Btw, MoFi just announced that Foreigner's debut album and Pretenders II will be released on SACD as well.  As for the SACD of "Wish You Were Here", there's still hope.

wow...the regular redbook cd version already sounds amazing,i wonder how it will sound in sacd.

I also love Aja. It's one of my all time favs, ever. But not $84 worth of favorite to me. But I bet it sounds damn good. For that kind of money, IT BETTER SOUND GOOD!!!

I'll also note that I don't have an SACD player anyways, but even if I did... there's no way I'd pay so much.

What the?  Why is this so expensive?  Ridiculous.  Go find a copy of the vinyl release from Cisco instead.  (out of print, yes)

Wow,  this is weird!  But thanks for the link, Regal!

Damn, that's expensive!  Not even out of print yet.

I think I'll stick with my copies of the original LP.  As others have mentioned, I've read over in the Hi Rez at Audio Asylum that the reissues on SACD did not use the original masters for the transfer, and hence the sound is degraded.  Not too sure, though.

Regardless, thanks for the heads-up.

$83.00? I want some of what they're smoking.I just purchased Nat King Cole's Love is the Thing from Analogue productions for $35.00 and it took me a while to get my head around that before I made the buy.

That's insane. I adore Aja, but I highly doubt that will sound better (or even as good) as the Cisco vinyl re-issue, or the original MFSL vinyl, both of which I have. So at that price I will pass.

There are other places to buy import cds than amazon. cdjapan has it for US$47.
