Be sure to let us know when it's done! It's always great to read reviews about the hype surrounded HiFiMan.

Hi all, I´m so sorry I´v been starting another thread and doing all kinds of other stuff leaving me to forget about this thread.
I meen, here have you all been helping me out and I have been missing, again sorry and thanks for all the info you have been provided.
I haave the hifiman HM-801 now and I must say I´m fairly satisfied, not 100% tho. Maybe I demand moore then any portable can give?
Always looking for new player though if there is something interesting coming out, and to answer a few earlier questions I do prefer something that sounds good (especially in my ears of course
) over batterytime, s.k portability, flashy menys or whatever! (how some seems to be comparing the 801 to shoboxes and bricks is moore then I can comprehend, so I choose to ignore it)
I have a Clip+ that will do well for running, biking, paddeling and in the boat where it acedentally can go over board. Well it doesn´t matter since Clip is so cheap anyway, just buy a new. But for hours in the subway/train/buss I prefer the 801 any day, I know there are some graphs that say it doesn´t sound good etc and I think it´s good that dfkt started the thread but I think it has goone way overboard.
I´m not going to defent my self for thinking the 801 sound better than Clip+, it does in my ears, but I also thinks it could pherhaps have sounded better?
Now I´m waiting fior the rewiev of hifiman 801, and also to see if someone is going to modify it
to sound even better.

warp08, I think it´s good you focusing on soundquality since that is what the 801 is intrended for, right?
I have understood it like the rest is basicly sacrificed , maybe I have it wrong?
The objective behind any comparative review is to essentially contrast the advantages vs. disadvantages of whatever products being compared against one another. My methodology was simple: sound-quality is weighted more heavily than other considerations, which I think is a realistic perspective on Head-Fi, being a forum for audiophiles and music enthusiasts.
There were, however, other aspects mentioned also with a brief Pros/Cons analysis from the HiFiMAN perspective, as the overall winner in most comparisons. But that was only my criteria and my conclusions being subjective and all, despite my best attempts to conduct the review fair and square.
For example, a reader may find it unacceptable to carry around a relatively large portable device such as the HiFiMAN and opt for an iPod Touch or some other DAP due to personal preferences. There is no right or wrong answer here, only--hopefully-some useful information that can help a fellow Head-Fi'er looking for the "next upgrade." We are always in upgrade mode and feel sorry for each other's wallets...
I do not have a Sansa+ but I've heard good things about it. What I have is an iPod Shuffle, which I kept all this time, along with my Shure SE530s as my Gym gear. I do not see myself sporting the HiFiMAN or the iMOD/Protector/TWagged JH16 Pro combo on the threadmill. So, in that use case the the humble iPod Shuffle/SE530 would triumph over all other competitors out of simple, practical reasons.
I hope this helped clarifying some of your unanswered questions.

Thanks again wart, it sertenly did!
Though, I must admid (language barrier pherhaps?) I became unserten now
?? Have you already posted the review or not? I was under the impression that it will take some time for it to be accessible?
I have the Clip+, two actually. I think there are difference in the SQ between the 801 and Clip+, but not by much and not at all with every music files. Obviousle that is not accepted to say and can start some flaming so I´ll stay away from that topic
cause I´m not the person that seeks trouble for the fun of it.
I listened to the JH7, JH10, JH10 X3, JH13 and JH16 pro today and now I must start planning if I want the JH16 pro or not since that was the one that appealed the most to me. I really enjoyed the JH16 whitch I first didn´t think I would cause I have never liked IEM´s before, what am I goinmg to do, hahaha! Wonder iof there are any closed back headphones that sounds like that? At first I didn´t think they where any special, but then I manage to seal that temporary filling between the ears and the tip of the IEM and it was like night and day, in a good way? Also kind os disturbing when you´r not used to cutting off every bit of outside noise, it´s strange thing to get used to to hear your own breathing so loud.
Question are, are they worth that much? I meen I dont listen to any classical, jazz or any such music, the closest thing would be something like coldplay (listened to X&Y today with the JH´s), otherwise it´s mostle electronic, rock, grime etc.. The one thing that is pushing me against some IEM´s the hardest right know is that I eat a lot of medecin that makes the svetty ears (closed back headphones) almost umbarebul after an hour or two. But I´ll guess I´ll have to ask around in some JH pro thread about he thing I´m mostly interested in? Only I´ll will have to find a thread that is as neutral as possible, no extreme fabois or haters cause that makes it hard to oick out the good info I´ll need!
Thanks again warp!

I take it you have listened to the JHA demo units. They are not that comfortable as the custom-built production unit molded specifically to your ear canals. For more info, you may want to read my old JH13/JH16 review (in the signature block). The closest sound signature in a full-sized closed headphone I personally listened to is the Denon AH-D7000. Not a perfect match, of course, but similarly delicious bass, good mids, perhaps a bit dark on the treble, at least with the stock cable. Still, a very nice set of cans. There is a bit of more sibilance with the Denons than the JH16s, but my Denons have not yet been burned in so it could be partially the result of that.
I prefer the JH16 Pros to most music, especially TWagged but that is a matter of personal preference. It has a more natural vs. neutral sound signature vs. the JH13 Pros. And my suspicion is that you will very much be able to tell the difference between the Sansa+ and the HM-801 with some high-quality lossless music files and the JH1x Pro customs.
Good luck!

Thanks warp, I will definitely have a look at your old JH13/16 thread!
I did go and listened to the major part of JH pro line up actually (I think?) as I wrote earlier, and now I cannot deny that there was a difference in the SQ between the 3 devices I took with me to the demo, some unmarked cheapo Chinese mp3 player, the 801 and the Clip+ to the demo, on top of that I knew that place I went to have some serious high fi components if I should ever want to try them with a high end dac + amp or what ever just to see what they really can perform like when using the best imaginable source. I meen the store is full of goodies like the Grande Utopia, Weiss Medea reference dac, McIntosh MC 2KW, the list can be made very long. It´s a place in Stockholm Sweden that seems to be consentrating at quality. (high end, mostly in my book anyway)
Have a look for your self: http://www.audioconcept.se/
But the thing is, they are the only once selling JH Audio in Sweden that I know of? And personally I find it very comfy that I can get back to that very same store and recieve servive when it is at its best if anything should ever happen, sure I might find then much cheaper in US or used once bot then it doesn´t feel as secure for me, if I have them sent from US and they get stuck in the Swedish (aka: INSANE taxes) customs it will be really expensive to.
Now, I must say at first I wasn´t impressed at all,not one bit, infact I thought the JH 13 pro sounded like any other cheapo in ears out there!
Then of course I couldn´t get them demo versions to not leak, a lot!
I became very sad that no matter how many of those things you put on the demo versions to make a complete seal I used I couldn´t get it to work, so I moved on to JH 16 instead... The guy that did the demo with me said exacly what you say, the demo and custom versions of the JH pro is very different, how the sit in your ear etc...
... Ohhh man what a difference, holy cow:
I did not expect that much of a difference, then again I´m using the Beyer 770 pro/80 for the moment when I´m on the move so I do like the bass. Only JH 16 is so much moore accurate with the bass (and pherhaps everything else to) and still have enough of it, though I had to use some EQ which I normally try not to. It´s a shame they´r soooo expensive, in Sweden I have to pay something like: 11900 for JH 16 + 1000 for mold of the ear and shipping, thats like 12900SEK = 1720$ ! Then pherhaps I want my own motive = 50$ extra.
So are they worth that??? I don´t know to be honest, but on the other hand I know myself and I´m not going to stop thinking about then till I have them here!
It´s always like that! + I eat this medecin that is called Lexin when you have to much water in your bode, and I swett like a pig on that medecin whith makes it unbareable to have closed back headphones on my head summertime.
So I can either sell something, but don´t have anything I realy want to sell that can generate some money. I´ll guess I have to ask for every bit of overtime I can get my hands on
and start saving right now!
