More like Eric Bibb? (Well recorded, acoustic guitar, male vocals, bluesy edge)

Well, it  doesn't have to be bluesy, I'm pretty open. And of course, it must be good music... thanks for any recommendations.

Have you checked out any of Richard Thompson's acoustic (or for that matter, electric) stuff?  Leo Kottke "Six and Twelve String Guitar" (no vocals).  Maybe Jose Rodriguez or Nick Drake if you want something a bit more mellow on the surface.

Ah, OK. I went over to utube and listened to Eric Bibb.  You want to check out Taj Mahal's material, and James "Blood" Ulmer's "Birthright" album.  Then you can check out Peter Green's Splinter Group, especially the one that does the Robert Johnson covers.  Then get down to his inspirations: John Lee Hooker, Leadbelly and RJ himself (but your recording quality is going to start diminishing).  The acoustic blues...

Mr. Bibb is going into my "to acquire" list.  Thanks for that.

Leadbelly is the MAN (except for that whole killing a guy thing) but I'm not familiar with the rest. Thanks for the nice long list! I'll check em out.

Yeah, start with the stuff in the second paragraph.  It's closer.  Not that there's anything wrong with the stuff in the first paragraph either.

Enjoy.  And pass some feedback into the thread when you get a chance.
