Back Up For Sale: Balanced Bijou with a Balanced Stepped Attenuator(525.00 shipped) .

I decided to sell my HE-5s, so I'm selling this after all. It's the same one originally built by pabbi 1. I did make a couple of changes. I replaced the dual volume pots with a single valab balanced stepped attenuator. I also installed a negative feedback pot using a balanced(4 pole) noble poteniometer. Other than that, everything else is intact. As far as upgrades over the stock version, the coupling caps were upgraded to abbligato golds,  Hammond 270HX transformer, furutech input xlrs, and the amphead mod. The BOM was a premium BOM the pappi developed and not the stock glass jar BOM. It has well over 600.00 in parts. I'm also including 16 6n1ps, 12 6n6ps, and 4 ez81s. So I'm asking only 525.00 shipped.

Can I use it @ 220V?

it comes with the hammond 270hx transformer. if I'm not mistaken, it only support us voltages. you would have to replace it with one of the 370s which are universal transformers. but you could use a converter.

Dimensions of this HUGE balanced amp, please?

Approximate weight, too, if you have an idea of what it may be..

OT, but what balanced amplifier are you now considering for your balanced HE-5? I am using mine single-ended with the EF5, but want to get a balanced amp that will play nice with them so I am in a similar boat. The LD MKVI+ seems adequate, but I don't want to deal with tube hum or fan noise, or have to do mods to fix things like that.

I've considered that one also, but I read impressions of that being both a good and not so good match with the he-5s. The bijou sounds really good with them, but they clip once you go past moderate volume levels. I know a lot of people listen at moderate levels(so do I 50% of the time), but there are occasions when I like to listen at headbanger levels. Also I have some of the same concerns that you have about the MKVI. The one tube amp that I listened to with the he-5s that I loved was the WA22. They sounded much better that the hd800s on the same amp. That combo was magical. It's more than I want to pay for a headphone amp, but I might have to consider saving up for one.

This thing is huge. It's 17x17x4 inches(add another 4 1/2 inches to the height for the transformer cover). If I had to guess I would say it's about 12-15 pounds. I'm away from home right now, so it wil be tonight or tomorrow before I can post pics. But here's a link to the listing pabbi 1 had.]
