I don't really feel the Junkers, but this might be a better place to go to buy one. He's a good guy and a sponsor over at Watchuseek (a big watch forum). He's a little cheaper too.
If you can stretch the budget, and especially if your skin can take SS with a PVD finish, this opens up the possibilities to boutique brands like Ocean7, Bathys, or BaliHa'i.
The Ocean7 I linked to is titanium, the other two are PVD coated. I've got the quartz Bathys I linked to and the coating is great, no danger of it chipping off. Bathys does have a titanium model in their quartz Benthic, but it is well and truly enormous and well out of budget. There are people with your wrist size rocking those big watches, but you've got to have the confidence that this is your watch and you'll wear it the way you want.
As for size, there's tons of threads on watch forums about "Is this too big, or is that too small?" And it just doesn't matter. As long as the lugs aren't hanging off the sides (and maybe even if they are), it's your watch and if you wear it like it's yours, you'll carry it off no matter if it's "too big" or "too small."
I'm just trying to look at this from the perspective of getting a special watch, not just a watch that has the distinction of having come in under budget. You don't have to spend thousands to get special watches.
