High Res Multi Channel Recommendations ( SACD , DVD Audio, etc.)

I am likely going to be getting an Oppo BDP-83 (probably SE version) and using it with my Smyth Realiser.  I've tried some samples and even DTS encoded versions of songs, and am very impressed.  It can only get better with high resolution formats with SACD and the defunct DVD-A.

So, any recommendations for albums that have Multi Channel and well recorded?

I am acquiring my personal favorites like anything DSD Telarc.  (I'm a big Erich Kunzel junkie).  But I'm open to all genres.  Well, except maybe rap and bluegrass country.

I've been slowly scouring these sites.

The Telarc DSD titles are a good place to start.  Here are some of the best Surround SACD discs (to my ears) that I would encourage you to snag if you find them:

O'Jays - Ship Ahoy
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Steely Dan - Gaucho
Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) - Latin, Guitar Heroes
Ultimate Mancini
Herbie Hancock - Gershwin's World
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Alison Krauss - New Favorite
Ladysmith Black Mambazo - Long Walk to Freedom
Bucky Pizzarelli - Swing Live
David Elias - The Window
Ray Charles - Ray Sings, Basie Swings
Police - Every Breath You Take (Greatest Hits)
ERA - The Mass
Count Basie Orchestra - Basie Is Back: Live in Japan
Jacintha - The Girl from Bossa Nova
Anthony Newman - Music for Organ, Brass & Timpani
Cowboy Junkies - Whites Off Earth Now
Broadway Inspirational Voices - Grace
Ann Hampton Callaway - Blues In The Night
John Pizzarelli - Dear Mr. Sinatra
James Taylor - Hourglass
Erich Kunzel - Scary Music

There are more worth mentioning, of course.  But this should give you a running start!

(And they work quite well with the Oppo SE and the Realiser in my listening room).

If you can find the alan parsons 4.1 mix of dark side of the moon it is superior to the 5.1 SACD version.

I've heard both.  Sound Quality wise, the SACD version is much better since it's from the master tapes.  As to the mix itself, I think they are both good.

Glad to help!  Since you've already found out about the Telarc DSD recorded SACDs, you're well on your way.  Along the way, be sure to nab the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet Surround SACDs "LAGQ: Latin" and "Guitar Heroes".  Both are standouts - either via a home 5.1 speaker system or especially via the Smyth !

You have some good ones there!  Love the Albert King disc - unfortunately only a Stereo SACD.  With Elton John, don't forget the Honky Chateau Surround SACD - Honky Cat in 5.1 Surround is a trip.

the alan parsons 4.1 mix was originally made on 1/2" 4 track tape i believe it is an orginal. He said he was rushed when he made it and didnt make it exactly how he would of liked to.
