Question About High Quality LODs for iPod

Thread Starter

I bought a ALO LOD cable from a member here and it did not work..

The kind member told me to just keep it and refunded me my money.

So being a very hand guy I split the conector a part and took a look..

I was super suprised to see how it was made..

I know ALO is a high end maker but other than high end parts I thought the quality did not match the cost...

The wires had more than a 1/4" of stripped wire showing kept a part by hot melt glue..

I would have thought some heat shrink tubing for each wire and hot melt glue and much less stripped wire..

MY QUESTION

Is this high quality wire needed as the iPod connector is so tiny and what about RF interfearnce and do this expensive LODs improve quality..

Thanks

Thats quite shoddy workmanship if i had to be critical.

The strands not wicked properly and too much exposed areas prone to oxidization.

I've never seen an ALO cable like that before.  If I had to bet, it looks like someone replaced the original wire with something else.  I've never had any problems before with ALO and can attest to the quality of Ken's work.  If this is Kens doing, poo poo on him, but I would bet not.

This was an onlder Gen 3 to Gen 5.5

I to have not seen the black wires either but was really poor quality IMHO

I would think was altered too but heat shrink over 3.5 plug looks Original to my eyes..

I'll weigh in. I sold the cable. I received it used exactly as I sold it. Is it authentic? I don't know. I do know it is the second or third one I've had, virtually identical. I'll state again cor the record I did not get it from ALO. it did look pretty original with printed heatshrink and plastic "brand."

aamefford,

I am sure you did not tamper with this..

I can only guess it is a very early ALO cable and where not as well made..

The heat shrink looks original and the connecror I feel  was not tampered with either as it took a good 20 mins to pry apart..

I am just stunned  someone that has the knoweldge to put one of these together left the ends so long....
