I'm taking delivery of a Nuforce Icon HDP which will be my first USB DAC and I want to make sure I get the most out of this upgrade. I know some smartypants is probably going to post "ASIO4ALL" and nothing else if I don't say this, so let me start by saying I did some searching before starting this thread. The problem is that I became mired in conversations with lots of words like "codecs" and "drivers" and I became even more confused. I'm hoping somebody out there will take pity on a poor noob and help me out.
My effort to provide all relevant information:
I will be using the usb on my laptop out to the Icon which will support a 96kHz/24-bit connection. As stated in the title I am using the latest version of the Zune software (Playing lossless WMA files), and I am quite comfortable with the interface, so I would rather not change that. My laptop is running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium, and it is running the REALTEK HD Audio Manager (I'm not entirely sure what that does).
In any case I thank the Head-Fi community in advance for any help they can give me.
