CMOY ---> Szekeres

post #1 of 5

I know I'm missing something, but I just don't see how this is working??

Using a tread type powersupply to power both a simple Cmoy and a simple Szekeres amp,

source (sansa) to cmoy input, cmoy output to Szekere's input, this should stuff up the cmoy VG and it does big time, before connecting 5 volts in each rail after 10volts and zero volts,

sound is not affected if fact sounds very good

Nothings getting hot heatsinks are warm to touch

no cross talk when I disconnect 1 channel

I just didn't expect it to work

any thoughts??

Hi Fred

The signal return from the headphones is returned to power ground, not virtual ground.

The virtual ground from the CMoy ends at the input of the Szekeres.

Next step...enclose the Szekeres in the feedback loop...

Nothing unusual.  The Szekeres is simply a current follower as opposed to an actual amp, so the CMoy is acting as a voltage gain stage followed by a szekeres current buffer.  Why not have an active ground channel for the CMoy so that you can have a DC coupled output?

Hi

The VG is tied directly to the ground on the szekeres, so it doesn't end at the cmoy it gets dragged down to the neg rail, as they both use the same power source, I could see it working if they had seperate power supplies but here the both share the same power

cheers
