Ground loop isolator to get rid off static noise?

When I listen to music on my computer, I have some static noise (I can hear it very clear between two songs). I've got this with all my sound cards (internal and external). A friend advised me to connect my amp on a different plug than my computer, like a plug in the bathroom or kitchen, so I did. Guess what: the static noise is almost totally gone!

Now here's the question: is this issue comparable with a ground loop? And could a ground loop isolator like you can find at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0019K4UJC/sr=1-4/qid=1276811017/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1276811017&sr=1-4&seller) help me?

Grounds loops are one of the most common causes of noise, and I recommend that everyone have a cheap group loop isolator on hand. They're typically $20 at Radio Shack, and you can even find them for $3 on ebay, although beware that some are faulty.
