Hi,
I just recently got an ATH-M50, and it's only been a week old. Anyway, I tried to shorten the cable and re-terminate it as I was planning to use this mostly outside on the go.
I've cut the original cable to the desired length, and bought a Neutrik NYS231 to terminate it with. My problem is that when I stripped the cables, they are impossible to tin with solder. They won't take any solder at all. I've tried everything I found on the internet. (burning the cable with a lighter for a short while, just in case they have a protective layer) Nothing looks wrong with the stripped wires, they look copper'ish and should be easy to tin, but they're not. It's really weird.
Please help, I'm really at my wit's end here. My M50s are unusable right now, and I'm really really sad about it.
