Your cat's favourite toys

Thread Starter

A few weeks ago I adopted a 3 year old male. I want to make sure that when I go out the door he can enjoy himself. Are there any particular toys that your cat absolutely loves?

Get a mat on the kitchen floor. My cats just love to get running and hit it so it slides across the ground.

Laser pointers and any cardboard box, no matter what size.  Hours of kitty fun.

We have two one year old cats, they both love small brown mice (toy ones!) approx 5cm long body with a rattle inside. Grey ones are 2nd favourite, white least popular and the brightly coloured toys get ignored.

One of them likes a long fluffy tail thing that's attached to a wand via a piece of elastic, I find wedging it in a chair or something so that is springs back when pulled sometimes amuses for a while, until it gets dragged free - I guess it's 'dead' when it won't spring back any more.

Also agree cardboard boxes are good, especially with lid flaps that are easy to push through and the cat can play at hiding inside.

My cats favorite toy is actually my old now broken Sennheiser HD485...not a joke.  One day about 2 years ago I left them on my couch playing a bass heavy song and went to the bathroom, came back and found her head pressed against it and trying to wiggle her way between it.  I sprinted to the camera and started shooting :D

she used to run around the house with them slung around her neck.  Was the cutest thing I ever saw.

cats are spoiled brats...what's funny on monday suddenly becomes boring to death on tuesday. get as many toys as you can, those tiny mice w/ feathers always do wonders...stuffing them w/ catnip hits the spot

String on a stick. Seriously. Requires human interaction but can be quite entertaining. Although not exactly good for when you go out the door. Oh well.

Also, paper balls and anything else that crinkles.

Bird watching on the telly tend to entertain our cats as well. Not to mention real birds outside the window. They get all pantsy when they hear bird songs. Mine are free runners when they wish so they spend a lot of time hunting rats and birds and what not. Never bought a toy for them but they generally find something to play with anyway. Paper balls or such easy things though they spent the most time in doors sleeping and relaxing.

My cats favorite toy is a mouse attached to a string and stick. Will find out for you the brand - it is well made and tough! Only thing is that this is an interactive toy, and as with all string toy, one shouldn't leave cat alone with it in case of danger. Apart from the obvious usage, one of my cat like playing hunting with it; I drag the mouse slowly from a distance while my cat hides and ambush it from a distance!

When I'm around the house, my cats love playing with those little feathered feathered squishy balls, except they always rip the velcro feathers off and just enjoy chasing it around the house when they hit it. (well the guy does that, girl just sits on squishy/soft things all day) Away from the house a window and a bird feeder is my cat's best entertainment, but he was born feral and taken in to an animal shelter as a baby so that might be why =P

Our three cats don't do toys. They do pillows and cat food.

The catnip is notoriously more potent in The Netherlands, this might explain [:sonoyot]

Those little plastic twisty tie things. My cat loves them.
