Are all FLAC files created equal?

Is there a difference in the quality of a FLAC file depending on what software you use to generate it? I have been using 2 different software products, EAC on a PC and xACT on a Mac. There are CDs wheere EAC fails and xACT will work. There are also times when xACT will fail with a couple of songs and when I redo them, it works fine.

Can I rely on the end product? Will the final FLAC files be ok? I have listened to them and they seem find.

Thans. Brad.

Yes in effect they are, however different programs but most importantly settings will generate different rips of the CD.  I recommend you use EAC to rip FLAC and follow this guide to create secure (flawless) rips. http://blowfish.be/eac/

Yes, all Flac files are generated equal, that's the definition of lossless compression after all. On the other hand, the .wav file produced by your CD ripper may differ from one another depending on how good your ripping software is.

^ x2 here. FLAC files generally sound the same but you won't have a "good" one if your initial rip of the CD is bad. A lot of people use EAC to get the cleanest rips possible.

I'll try and simplify it. all FLAC files (if they aren't a transcode) are created as lossless audio.
But you can get variations in the quality (how accurate the rip is) of each rip depending on the settings used.
