Parts for a 3.5mm male interconnect

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get hold of a very short (2-3 inch / 50mm-75mm) male mini 3.5mm interconnect for my Fuze-amp combo.

It's not so easy. The only real route seems to be to buy an expensive custom-made model for US$30 or more, which is a crazy amount for a short piece of cable and a couple of plugs.

So I've decided to make my own. I've ordered some heatshrink and have obtained a couple of crappy plugs. Now I'm trying to find some wire.

Problem is, I don't know what kind of wire I should be looking for. I've seen references to silver wire and all sorts of things. I'd like to buy some reasonable quality wire, but don't want to spend more than $5-$10 including shipping to South Korea.

Also, I wouldn't mind some better quality plugs (mine are stock plugs from the E5 cable).

Any suggestions?

Scott

Go to a local electronics shop and find a wire that is suitable for you.

Most likely it will be copper and won't cost you much. Don't bother with other types of wire, as long as it's well built, it's good.

Great suggestion. Only problem is I've been looking for two weeks and can't find an electronics shop that sells wire, believe it or not. I live in Korea, and DIY doesn't really exist here.

That place sells cable, not wire. I bought 5 of their neutrik 3.5mms, so cheap at 65 us cents. Locally they're over 3 dollars. I should have bought more.

Minimum order 25 feet, decently economical but has quite high shipping (13 dollars to aus). I bought 3 25 ft spools.

Otherwise I don't really know.

If anyone does know, I'm looking for wire that LOOKS like this: http://www.aloaudio.com/store/images/HFI780sxc.jpg

Really sexy wires.

Not exactly cost effective. I don't need 'cryo' wires.

20 ft is 60 bucks plus shipping, makes a perfect length cable but damn the cost...

But thanks for the option though.

edit: oh sht, that's USD.

edit2: ah well, if I'm going to recable something it's gonna be a Manufaktur, and if I buy one I'd be going all out for gold anyway. Probably should buy used instead.

Yeah, all those websites are great but the shipping costs are horrendous.

I might have some spare wire from my upcoming projects. If you don't find wire by that time I can send some to you for less than 10 bucks.

Thanks buddy.

Someone else has already offered to do that and is sending some stuff to me.
