looking for a good car receiver

I am looking for a good receiver.  Is there anything online(forums, websites etc) that has good information on SQ of car receivers?  Does the receiver contribute that much to the SQ of the system?

What kind of car are you installing this unit in.  The reason I ask is, I have seen many people install expensive units with very good SQ into car that are very poor at blocking exterior road noise or have a tremendous amount of rattles.  Most compacts and quite a few SUV's have this problem.  Unless you are willing to invest in some labor and a lot of Dynamat, I would not spend a lot of money on a top-end car reciever.  I myself bought a decent Alpine unit that sounds pretty good but has a lineout for my ipod that allows me to control it through the reciever.
