Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo - Page 66

Yeah, I lost a couple of the screws on my CLAS a few months ago.  Ken was nice enough to send me replacements.  The screws still loosen over time no matter how often I tighten them, it's probably the biggest issue I have with the CLAS--after the limited battery life of course.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Ken/Cypher Labs will offer an upgrade program to have a 2nd battery installed into our CLAS's?  I would be willing to pay for this.

Still loving my CLAS - in fact, more than ever.

However earlier this evening, I suddenly noticed that one of the 8 screws that holds the black metal case together is missing. I immediately grabbed a screwdriver and tightened the other 7. (In fact, they were all quite tight.) I have also searched my apartment with the "flashlight in a dark room" method but it is so tiny and I could have lost it earlier today (I assume) in so many different places.

Help, Ken! Any thoughts on how I can get my hands on one of these?  Thanks!

Hi guys,

I am not sure if this has been discussed here but in Japan many users believe that CLAS leaks DC from its output and damages amp. Is this just a rumor or really the case.

Some users are actually using CLAS with condenser box like PVCAP to prevent amp from getting damaged.

No one on here has reported a problem and this has never been mentioned before. Source please? Which users in Japan?

LOL.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it was my first post but what I have highlighted here is actually the case in Japan. I have seen this rumor several times in Japanese forum and they even say don't buy it unless if you want to damage your amp. I haven't seen any evidence stands for it.

As you can see on the picture, right hand side rig, this guy believes CLAS is leaking DC and using it with a condenser box. (and external battery pack for V2^2)

Don't get me wrong here, I really love CLAS. I just want to clear up this rumor in Japan.

This is from the recent Fujiya Avic Headphone Amp last month? I recognise the pix and I was there. Don't recall any talk about the leaking DC of the CLAS though.

Hi AnakChan,

I actually don't know where that photo was taken but with that photo, guys at the forum said that the condenser box was for the DC leak. I presume you can read Japanese, see link below. Search with '直流'.

Dokamoto,

There is no DC leak on the output of the Solos. If you want to send yours back for warranty checks we will assist you, but please the Solo does not leak DC. A passive ac-coupling and low pass filter circuit is used on the output. The circuit is configured so that the audio output will produce approximately 2VRMS (+6dBV) for a digital full scale signal into a 2kÚ load. Again you can go to the ALO website and initiate the RMA process. A through check will be initiated.

I have been using the Solo for almost a year now with the Pico Slim and more recently the JH-3A, and when I say using I mean a lot!  There has been absolutely no damage to either amp.

As we can see from Ken's post above safeguards were already in place.  Maybe that's why I have experienced no damage.  So much for rumours.....and I am curious, how many "...in Japan many users believe.." is "many" and what evidence do those who "believe" have for any damage to amps?

Ken:  Can you confirm that the Solo can work with Ipad3?  Thanks.

The iPad3 that hasn't been released yet?  ;-)

(I seriously doubt that it will be a problem but I think that you just jumped the starting gun.)

Yeah, I had to google it, apparently it may be launched this week. In a few reports I did see that the dock is smaller, not sure why they would do that if indeed they are! I will stick to my 1st gen one, does all that I need it to do and I don't game so don't need a huge processor!

One of the most exciting rumours that I have read lately is that Apple is looking to go High res in the near furture with itunes and that any music that customers have purchased from Apple will automatically replace with high res content.  This will be interesting as this is one feature where the CLAS is more capable that the Fostex.
