Basically my only question is:

 

Can you easily upgrade the cable on the Denon D2000's?

That is a yes and no answer. 

 

No, as in the cable doesn't pull out and replace like the Sennheiser HD series or K702. 

 

And yes, as in there are quite a few companies that will re-hardwire a new cable for a fee.

It is easy to get to the cable and driver with the headphone(unlike my k601s which had to come completely apart), but I can't comment on how sensitive the drivers are to heat.
