Chevron's intentional decades-long toxic wastewater dumping in Ecuador -- 10 times the size of... - Page 2

When it was renamed I used google to find the updated (renamed) link.  That approach doesn't work anymore:

This is what the Headfi system says when the google link is clicked:

that other thread got nuked by the mods

yeah I figured. There was some good discussions going on in the thread, pity.  Hence the irony.

yeah, it was the most interesting thread in a while.  I didn't think it was political, it was pretty much just about the spill and it's causes.  And it was a very peaceful discussion.  It was really interesting to see more into the world view of many head-fiers.  I was pleasantly surprised!

I would say that it was the mod who got political, the thread wasn't so much as it provided illumination on a big environmental policy problem that made the "slash and burn" crowd uncomfortable but affects everybody.

The thread was non-partisan, but whoever deleted it was not

That's the problem with some of the mods here. They ignore threads until they notice people are saying things that go contrary to the position they maintain so they delete the thread.

I guess I would be pidgeon-holed into that group but I didn't take offense at the no-more-drilling points of view.

itsbroken, have you seen the figures on the amount of oil we could get if we tapped ALL our oil reserve resources, compared to the amount of oil we consume?  It's not like we have enough oil here to just stop importing it all together.  If we went balz out drilling like madmen, it would barely put a dent in the amount of oil we would still have to import.  The real solution is no more oil.  That is if we are in fact looking for a long term solution.

Yet we could not actually consume all of the known reserves of petroleum, because we would all die of toxic asphyxiation from the resulting CO, emissions first. I sometimes wonder if we are doomed to "die trying".
