MINI challenges Porsche to race; Porsche refuses

Here's something fun...

MINI USA (which is owned by BMW) has challenged Porsche to a race. The contestants would be a Mini Cooper S and a Porsche 911 Carrera S.

Porsche's response:

MINI's response to Porsche's response:

I think it's a pretty clever publicity campaign, and regardless if Porsche consents I hope they do some sort of MINI vs. Porsche race.

What kind of a race?  Lol..maybe the mini might win going in reverse .

Mini's a great track car and all, but there would have to be a sharp disproportion in the talent between the two drivers if they hope to win. I suppose that even if they lose, they still get the free publicity and can say that they were only XX seconds behind a PORSCHE!!!

Not really. Set up a nice tight autocross course and a Mini would have more than a fighting chance against a Porsche 911. Not so much against a Cayman, but hey, that's why Mini set the terms they did.

That course is 2.5 miles with 12 turns and long straightaways. I'd like to know what MINI is thinking on that one.

What MINI-USA didn't mention is that their car will be airlifted by helicopter to the finish.

No where in the terms did it say that helicopters weren't allowed.

Also, anyone else notice that his shirt changes like twelve times in the second video?

I wouldn't ever buy a Porsche even if had the money, well, with the exception of the Carrera GT, but I'm with them on this one.  "Porsche spanks MINI at road Atlanta" isn't exactly late breaking news, so there really is no upside for them in this challenge.

Haha... I actually laughed out loud at that one.

I think Mini should just lure an unsuspecting Porsche driver there and then initiate a race out of no where.

Better yet, get two kids with those foot-pedal little miniature cars and have them race.

Porsche sits at the red light, unsuspecting. Mini drives up, revs engine a few times. Porsche looks over, sees Mini staring back with a smirk. Mini revs his engine again, face contorting with the roar. Porsche falls victim and returns a growl in kind. The light trembles and flicks to green. Gas pedals floor, wheels squeal, and the two rivals ride off side by side into the hot sunset.

I want to see the two CEOs race. Put your gas pedal where your breaks are, Jim.

They could make a video game out of that... Better yet, a movie. Even better still, a movie and then video game based on the movie with episodic novel releases.

"A Man and His Mini" - One man's mission to prove his small car has a big heart.

I expect a cut now.
