Not many people are familiar with the German Maestro Pro line of headphones, but those who are seem to have only good things to say. The Charteroak SP-1 are a rebranding of the top-of-the-line GMP 450 Pro. I posted my detailed impressions here, and I find myself a bit surprised to be writing up this sales ad.
Here's the thing, though. I like bass. I'm not a huge basshead, but I tend to listen to mostly rock, and these just don't deliver the levels of bass that I want. For people who like the sound signature of bass-light phones but want to avoid the harsh highs that often come with that signature, I can't imagine you could do much better than this. I think these headphones rival orthos for their detail, but come with a surprisingly expansive sound stage. They do go reasonably deep, but it's pretty light.
I bought these new a few months ago, and have coddled them ever since. They originally cost just under $400 Canadian, from one of the only North American retailers that I can find that actually carries the darn things. Because of the weight of the box, a local sale or Canadian sale would be especially awesome (though I am willing to ship it stateside.
As a straight sale, I'm looking for about $TRADED (final price drop) shipped and paypalled in Canada. Keep in mind that these things come in a massive, heavy box thanks to the piano gloss wooden box that they come in. Unfortunately, my pair didn't come with a screw-on 1/4" adapter. I will include a standard gold-plated adapter, though, if needed. Please don't bother with lowball offers--I'd rather hang onto these than sell them for a price I can't feel good about.
I am also willing to consider some trades for this one. Some things I'm interested in (obviously, with the possibility of some $ for unequal trades):
-Ultrasone Pro 750/2500/900
-AKG K340 (that I don't have to work on to sound good)
-a balanced sounding, properly modded ortho (liking my T50RP these days)
-Something else that's fairly balanced and interesting/compelling
Not interested in: Sennheiser, Grado, other AKGs
North America only, please.
Feel free to ask me any questions about these very special headphones.
