Looking to get a new player...need your opinion.

I have the Clip+. I love it. The sound is awesome, and it's about as portable as you can get. However, I would like to get something with a little bigger screen. My step son has had bad luck with his Sansa Fuze. They replaced it after about 9 months use, and the one they gave him stopped working too. He could have been hard on them, who knows. What would you suggest, in the $200 area, and why?  Thanks.

EDIT: I prefer buttons over touch, good SQ, decent quality screen, and thin.

What do you want out of your player? touch screen or not? hard drive or flash? memory slot..etc

The D2+ was nice when I had it however. It's built quite well and even better when you get a screen protector or a cheap case but it's not necessary. You can also upgrade the memory with a sd card and good battery. It's touch screen however so blind navigation would be difficult unless you flash it.

I'm not overly particular on specs, just want a good sounding player that's easy to read. Cowon D2 is nice. I was wanting something on the slim side, prefer buttons, but touch is okay if it sounds good.

Why this player?

Check the Cowon J3 thread, near the end. I just found it a better player than the Sony X (1061) or the S:flo2, which are both very good form a SQ standpoint.

Nice. I was really looking for a dedicated mp3 player though. I have 6 mp4 players, that play video as well as audio. I want this for audio only. Anything else?

I only use the J3 for audio, same with the X. Bought a refurbed iPod touch and already had a Zune80 for video.

Seems newest Sony A player would be good but its expensive, or if you don't need external controls or a very intuitive UI, the S:flo2 does sound excellent, but it also plays video. However, its only $169 for a 16GB player. Ther also is the latest Sony lineup that is in the $100-$200 range, can't remember the letter designation. But they are easy enough to google or search for on Amazon.

S:Flo² is nice, but a little too big for my tastes. I did see a Sony the other day at Wally World. Didn't pay attention to the model, but it was a nice size though.
