Zeroing In On My First 'Good' Cans...

well, I think this site has become an addiction

cause I just spent 10 hours combing through reviews and googling like mad.

and after all that I decided to make a new thread with new questions.

my three current goals for hunting down (purchase date to be determined) are as follows, say what you will but these are my wants (and feel free to suggest different models similar):

Sennheiser HD448's

Sennheiser HD555's

Audio Technica ATH-M50S's

now, the MAIN conundrum I'm finding is....a place online to buy these so they total under 100 dollars INCLUDING shipping (preferably FREE shipping) to Canada, payment method is Paypal ONLY.... I need websites BADLY, all the ones I go to have ridiculous shipping fees (internationally) or the price is too high compared to other places with said shipping fees...

the phones I'm going for most are the M50's, I've read such good things about them, except for the possibilty of discomfort after long wear, and the ridiculously long cord that comes with them :B and I hope to find them somewhere that fits the above criteria as they look utterly awesome (minus the cord >_>)

The Sennheiser 448's are actually my second choice, mostly due to how they look very comfortable, have a nice simple short cord (yet have a exstension if I need it to be longer) and look to be perfect for portability yet with strong enough internal specs to do what I want all the time.

the HD 555's look good too, they're actually labelled as audiophile headphones on Amazon and I've heard plenty good about them on this site, the awesome ear cups are a bonus as well, but are last on my list.

basically, I'm asking where I can get these sets with the details mentioned above (shipping/cost/paypal etc) online in a hurry, my current set grow progressively worse by the hour it seems. I'll be looking around the for sale section of the forums to see if anyones selling such phones brand spanking new and is willing to accept direct paypal payment for them as I honestly would love to skip the 2 week transfer funds period that comes with non-credit card paypal canadian accounts :-\ I don't get funds in until the 23rd as previously mentioned and would need to wait until then to even start the process >_>

one last thing is I'd like some overall quick mini-reviews on the phones above, especially in regards to...cord durability, which I worry about alot as I notice I abuse my cords heavily...and imagine it would be even more of an issue with extremely long ones like on the M50's.

anyways, hope to get some answers from the awesomely friendly people of head-fi again, and find a way to afford some better phones than the crap thats kicking around locally :-\

thanks ahead of time for any help.

Just making sure - you don't want to use 555's outside. Very open headphones.

I'm almost full-on decided on the M50's then but can't find a good dealer that ships and sells for under 100 total

I could MAYBE pull off 115USD but thats gonna really break the bank (and starve me... but I *really* want these phones)

anyone got suggestions?

The more salt you add to packaged ramen, the more edible it seems. Taking it out of the soup and adding sweet soy sauce does wonders.

that really isn't an answer to my question/request >_>

I'm googling and googling and getting nothing here :(

Sunday morning, no one's on that [side of the world] (edit - not hemisphere) awake yet! If we can't sleep in on Sunday mornings, when would we sleep in?

the extremely fast scrolling threads in the forum say otherwise...I'm really at a loss where to find these damn phones on the cheap, except for the ebay guy I found out about in another thread, 104.95USD + 19 USD shipping + conversion into CAD = too much to bite the bullet on, I dunno about you but I can't live on 125 dollars for an entire month of food, as well other things need to be bought too...

Bottom line, unless you have someone who lives in the States that can bring them up for you after free shipping, getting headphones in Canada costs more money.

If you want reasonably priced headphones in Canada, you may want to check out options at pro audio stores.

Long & McQuade, Moog Audio and Studio Economik all have excellent prices and service, but you might not be able to get all brands cheaply.  Audio-Technica in particular has horrible prices in Canada.

If you can't afford the ones you want, either save up or keep an eye on the For Sale forums here, to snag one new.

If you're trapped in a budget, the Shure SRH-440 might be a good compromise.

You can find the ATH-m50s on amazon.com for 100$ and by the way they are amazing headphones for the price.

Heres the link  http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50-Studio-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B000ULAP4U/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1276450976&sr=1-1

if you had read the above posts, you'd know any sites that don't accept paypal are useless to me, I don't have a credit card and such for Amazon, never mind the fact Amazon is insane overkill for shipping to Canada, the free shipping deal applies to the US only if my memory serves, thus no can do.

I went through at least 90+ pages of google results one by one and all of them were ridiculously overpriced (159.99) or they did NOT ship to Canada, or did not accept paypal...

I looked at the Shure 440's, the bass is supposedly weak, and not what I'm looking for at all, the 750's are more my style but I cannot afford them, not even close

100 was the max and its looking like I may have to seriously starve for a month to get the ATH M50's which by the way I can't even find the straight cable version of affordably outside amazon :\

I hope I can make ends meet and scrap a small bit of food together for the long upcoming month of utter brokeness if I do buy the M50's.

...Can you get the JVC RX700 in Canada? They're a ugly black plastic version of Denons D2000...

Could you save half this month and save half next month to meet the price? It seems to me that might be better than spending it all one month and not having anything left over.

not really, since I have too many other things I kinda need to buy I can essentially pull off one big thing a month, there isn't many 'little things' budget wise (like I need to replace my CRT tv, that'll be at least 50 of the max 80-100 I can spend each month in free spending, if not a heck of a lot more, I also could use to send my xbox to ms, thats 40-60 in shipping, or some new clothes, which add up really quick but summer's approaching really fast, also need some job search clothes as well...I know my priorities aren't balanced but music is a BIG deal and important to my everyday life, as well I need good phones to watch tv late at night due to my wacky sleeping patterns)

anyways enough of the ranting, before payday I'm going to research to see if theres some feasible options like a 'one shot job' or something that I could work a day, make like 60 or so bucks to recuporate <sp?> the cost of the phones, even a little, I dunno how I'll pull it off though)

wish me luck I guess :-\
