Any Desktop DAC (+- 200$)

Thread Starter

Hi,

I know that there is already a few posts about this, but last one I've found is roughly year old and lot of things has changed since that time (I believe).

So, I own Senn HD 595. Currently I listen on integred Realtek ALC 888 but I'm quite sure that this isn't the right source for them. I know that as 50 ohm headphones they don't need any AMP, however I'm lost in DACs, f.e. lot of people only recommend portable ones, forums are full of uDAC, iBasso etc. and it confuses me. Anyway I'll only use them at home so the DAC should be desktop (bigger DAC is cheaper than smaller DAC of same quality - i hope so) and that's the problem :/

Can you recmmend me anything ?

you could start with a musiland monitor 02 ... it´s not really a DAC (it´s an external soundcard with built in headamp ... it can´t process spidf coax or toslink singnal only usb) but it´s great! value for the money (~120$) ... search the forum, you´ll find nothing else but praise. Another plus for this little thing is, that you don´t need to ditch it when upgrading your chain, because it is also an excellent usb -> spdif transport.

Yes, forget about your onboard sound.

Within your budget I suggest you to save up 100$ more for:

Audio-GD FUN version A at 340$:

If 340$ is too much, get the basic version for 190$.

And if you need something smaller:

Audio-GD Sparrow at 235$ (version A) or 150$ (basic version)
