The main question for this thread is to help me decide on a dedicated audio source. I am generally new to high fidelity audio, so I'm not exactly sure what it is I need. Btw, I will just mention from the outset that I am running this through my computer as a primary source, but I am looking for something like an amp, pre-amp, tube amp, DAC, I don't really know. The Maverick Audio Tube Magic D1 seems like a versatile product, and the price is right. It has a place to hook up an ipod, which is a big plus for me. It has a headphone amp, which will come in useful, although it is by no means a deal maker/breaker. I have the Shure SRH 840 headphones, but again, I plan to be using my KRK monitors the majority of the time. Now, I am on my way to becoming an audiophile, but by no means am I there yet. This will be my very first high fidelity stereo audio system, so I don't really have any pre-judgments on sound, based on previous products I have owned. Please, don't tell me that it doesn't compare to some $500 audiophile grade source. I need comparison's with products that are in the same caliber, or at least in the same price range.
My system is still in the planning stages, but this is what I've come up with so far.
Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1 > Elemental Designs A3S - 250 subwoofer > KRK Rokit RP6 G2 Powered Monitors

This system will be used for music. I am a bass head, so heavy on the bass is never a problem. I need my bass to be tight and clean. As for the sound, I prefer a warm and colourful sound, as opposed to bright and harsh. I know my monitors will produce a flat sound, but to me, it is better than bright and harsh.
I would like to be able to connect my whole system through RCA, and this is where I am a bit concerned. A would prefer a source that allows me to hook up a subwoofer through RCA; does the Maverick allow for this?
My budget is $250.
So, if anybody has experience with the Maverick, I would greatly appreciate some opinions. I have read the dedicated Maverick Audio Tube Magic D1 thread here on this site, but I am wondering about the amp in relation to my system. Also, if anybody has anything else they would like to recommend, I am open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance, fellow Head-Fi'ers!
