Bleh my brain isn't up to dealing with these "boat" metaphors. :/

I think I understand them but at the same time I'm not sure that I do.

 

So is the current consensus that this player might not live up to peoples expectations? Or that people don't believe it can perform?

... is that what the "boat" metaphors are getting at?

People have high expectations for the player because it's a Hifiman, it's older brother has a big reputation, Head-Direct makes it, and it's going to be $450.  The only thing is that there are no real or absolute posted opinions of the sound quality, so we're not sure if we're expecting too much from it.

Ok so I do get these metaphors. Yeah I have been following the HM-602 since it was first mentioned here so I feel I have a pretty good handle on the situation.

^ Lets hope so! But yeah I'm with you. Look at all the great products head-Direct make/sell... it can't too much of a fail.

Especially at the pre-order price and the inclusion of the free RE262s.

yup too good of an offer to pass up

honestly we are just defending our purchase but hopefully it will be the last DAP on my collection

^ Agreed. However if I don't think it's worth what I paid for it I'm going to be more than happy to sell it.

I don't really feel the need to defend a product that I'm not happy with. But until then I'm defending the idea of it ;)

My hope is that it can be my all-in-one DAP (meaning I won't need an external amp).  If this alone can make my HF2's sing, I'm going to be one very happy head-fier!.

 

I just hope that I get it before September 7th.  That's when high school starts!

they said it will ship before the 1st week of september

all orders are shipped through EMS so it should be on our doorstep by the end of sept 7

Actually, I think that Shigzeo was referring more to a torpedo, as in this may be a killer product. I agree.

this is a great deal, and certainly unbeatable with the inclusion of the free RE262s  BUT have any of you actually confirmed the deal is available to customers outside of mainland china (ie: buying from the Head-Direct site)?

I ordered the Hifiman 602 from your site today, but I wasn't aware of the RE262 free promotion.  I'm located in Canada.  Does that mean that I will receive a free pair of RE262's with my Hifiman 602 when it arrives?

I also emailed to confirm. This is definitely tempting, and I think I'm going to pre-order today. 

Currently I have a 5G iMod and xin supermicro iv... can anyone who has heard the 801 or prototype 602 and something like my rig give me their thoughts as to whether or not this would be a worthwhile upgrade? Worth converting my library from apple lossless?
