SQ of a Rockboxed Clip + vs a Zune 120? (My main gripe is the volume of the 120, using HJE900s)

I'm looking for a new DAP, and the Clip+ looks interesting.

 

I have a Zune 120, and it's enjoyable to listen to, but I feel as if the volume max (20) gives me 70-80% of what I want to hear. Mainly, the bass is a little lacking, and I'm fairly sure it isn't my HJE900s fault.

 

How does the Clip + compare?

That's weird.  I tried the HJE900 with my Zune 80 and it had plenty of muscle to drive those IEMs - actually too much.  They were very hissy!

 

The HJE900 have low impedance so any player should have no problem driving them.

 

I have a Fuze (similar to the clip+) also and its about the same loudness as my Zune.

 

Are you in a country that requires volume lowering for all players?
