Off-topic but as Sennheisers are 50% off in play.com how does HD650 compare to these headphones? Sorry, the deal was too tempting but managed to resist.
Sticking with the plan to get closeds for now.
Just grab them. Your Auzen soundcard will have no problem powering them adequately. HD650 is in the middle compared to Denons and Beyers qualities.
Hi kudo!
I concider my self to be a s.k noob in this area and can´t really offer you a lot of advice. Can give you my impressions tho.
I was in a very similar situation like your self until today, tho my leakproblem was in subway/on the bus etc..
I have also some Sennheiser HD555´s myself and think they do sound very pleasent for the small ammount of money I paid for them in sweden a couple of month ago, I think approxemately 90$. HD555 to me are very comfy to but of course they have the leakingproblem that annoy others, with the open design.
Today I went and bought Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm so that I can enjoy musik in subway/on bus etc without annoing others, I just had to cause I got a very good price on them and I´v heard others make them sound better by modding as well.
First impression was how low they really sounded compared to HD555, volyme wise that is. I use Sansa Clip+ with nuforce icon mobile for portable use, and of course the same icon mobile as dac at home. Icon Mobile is pherhaps to weak for DT770 pro 80ohm?
Also the bass was to much, not sharp and crisp but dominant and yet loose. But to be fair I have to use them for some 100 hours to "burn in" first and se how they sound after that, if not better I´m going the mod-way I think.
I have see some very talented guys in this forum have made improvments to Beyer´s DT770 pro, I wanna to!
I advice you to listen to 770 pro first (if you can), not like me who went and listened to 770 m first, haha!
Best of luck m8, hope you find the "right sounding" closed headphones for you.
PS. I´m not saying the 770 pro sound bad, not at all. 1: They sound quite different from HD550 in my ears. 2: Mine aren´t burnt in yet.
Yeah, I keep hearing the 80ohm are pretty bassmonsters.
I just ordered my Dt770 600ohms, I shall write my thoughts about them when I recieve the package. But the hardest part is right now, waiting for the package to arrive.
How long manufaktur usually takes? Beyerdynamic site says approx 2 weeks has anyone gotten theirs in week?

Congrats!
To me the ordinary 770 250 ohm sounded good on portable (low - mid volymes), but when connected to decent dac and X-Can V8P I found them to be something extra! That sound fitted my taste like a glowe I think. To be precise, that is the experience that made me realize I hadn´t heard any well sounding music until that moment!
As I mentioned before I´m a noob when it comes to audio and all this is new to me, maybe that´s the reason I havn´t listen to so much music in the past? I actually thougt that I couldn´t hear the difference between any headphones within the same pricerange, now when my interest have woken up I´m mad at my self for hearing such a differens between the audio stuff I listen to. Damn this is probably going to get heck of lot moore expensive than I first thought
How long does it take for delivery? Sorry, I don´t know kudo, but 2 weeks sound normal to me and I´m sure someone can tell you cause I have found this site to be a very helpful source for everything headphone related. Since you´r a suomalinen poika and all, pherhaps a couple of days longer than the germans have to wait? But thats just me speculating and I dont know how long it takes for Beyerdynamics to ship them out?
Kudos head wouldn't let go of the 770s. Regrettably, he won't be with us for quite some time.
Truth. Ive had these for half-year now and I love 'em.
Totally will buy these in next life too.
Thanks to everyone.
I think an increase from 500 to 3.5kHz range will be better for the Denons.
I'm hearing conflicting opinions -- I currently own HD650s and DT770 80ohms. I like the bass on the DT770s but it's not enough for me. I've definitely realized that I'm becoming a basshead -- however, I do also enjoy nuanced reproduction occasionally. However, I'm finding that I'm not using the HD650s as much as the 770s since I just enjoy the bass more. I prefer the comfort of an open headphone. How would the D2000s or the D5000s compare to the 770s, bass-wise. I would be using them with an amp.
I am debating bw the D2000 and DT770/600. The main issue now is the amp bc i need a small amp. Can 600 ohm DT770 be driven of a portable amp well? I would love to run either one of these headphones off of the iBasso D4 amp but I don't know if it is sufficient for these headphones.

D2000/5000 would have a smoother bass response. The DT770 bass response is kind of bumpy (some bass notes louder than others). I don't know if you notice it now, but you definitely appreciate the smoother bass response of the Denons. The D2000/5000 treble is more refined and a bit sparklier. It's midrange is recessed though.
If you want even more bass, get a Darth Beyer (which you can tune by covering one of both of the bass vent holes.) There is no headphone known to man with more bass than the Darths.
Little late answer but, when I was looking for headphones to myself Jimm's was selling them at that price, they have gotten more expensive in the year.
ok....thanks for the answer, i guess i'll be watching closely the fs/ft section
.
