Hi there!
This is an interest check for my pair of LA2000 Lites with silky oak ear cups, terminated in a 1/4" Neutrik jack. They were purchased from and modified by Lawton Audio in March of this year, and they probably have a total of about 100 hours of use. As far as I can tell, they are in exactly the same condition as when I first received them.
When I first bought these headphones, I also owned a pair of stock Denon AH-D7000s. Since the D7000s and LA2000 Lites were about the same price, I thought it was fair to compare the two headphones head-to-head. To me, the LA2000 Lites were the clear victors, and I liked them so much that I sent my D7000s in to Lawton Audio to get mods done on them as well.
However, my LA2000 Lites are very similar to my LA7000 Lites, and I tend to prefer my LA7000 Lites, so the LA2000 Lites just aren't seeing the head-time they deserve anymore. This, along with the fact that I may want to give the Audez'e LCD-2s a try in the near future, is the reason I am looking to sell the LA2000 Lites.
Speaking sonically, these headphones are awesome. If you are looking for a lush, highly euphonic headphone, look no further. This pair of LA2000 Lites has all the characteristic bass of the stock Denons, except much tighter and more articulate. With these, you get well-defined, tonally-accurate bass, not the generic, one-note bass fart of the stock D2000s. Also, the markl mods have helped to bring the mids forward on these headphones. The best way I can describe their sound is that they sound like a cross between a pair of stock Denons and a pair of Grados -- with tighter, better bass than either. With their fun, euphonic sound, these make a great complement to a more neutral-sounding headphone.
Below are some pictures of the headphones. I tried to capture the beauty of the wood, but you just can't do it with a camera. Also, I tried to take a couple pictures of the very minor cosmetic flaws. There are a few, very small indentations in the metal around the ear cups, and there are a couple of very minor chips in the edge of one of the ear cups. These are hardly noticeable, and they were there when I first received them from Lawton Audio, but I just wanted to let it be known before anyone makes an offer on these headphones.
I decided to post these as an interest check, because I have no idea how much interest there would be in the Head-Fi community, or what the going price for a pair of headphones like this would be. The price for these new was $770.
So, please feel free to PM me with offers. If the price is right, I will part with these. I would prefer to keep these within CONUS, but will consider offers from other countries if the offer is particularly good. If these headphones sell, they will ship in the original D2000 packaging, with the certificate of authenticity from Lawton Audio.
Thanks for your interest, and feel free to PM me with offers!
