Eastern Electric Minimax Tube Dac (32-bit dac) - Page 3

pautinqch,

About the Eastern Electric DAC, the review by Stereomojo is very good. You have a link in the first page of this thread.

Another good review here

http://www.digitalaudioreview.net.au/index.php/audio-reviews/digital-source-reviews/item/175-eastern-electric-minimax-tube-dac

For the link i gave you on ebay, a lot of countries are excluded. Where do you live ?

About the Audio GD NFB1, I have no information, but a good PSU is always a good thing.

The Audio GD is balanced, you have XLR output. The Eastern Electric is only single ended.

The first post has the link to the official North American importer for them.

But since you missed it the first time around:

Just got my Eastern Electric DAC a couple of days ago, so far, very pleased. Using the tube dac part, and a Burson HD-160 amp, the sound is really a great step up from my two year old compass. Running my T1's off of it and the detail that was missing before really shines through.

Just got my Eastern Electric minimax tube dac and I love it I have it running into a Shiit Lyr and with the tube output pressed it really calmed down the Lyr sounds incredible. Im so glad I went with the Sabre Dac.

Also provided are a phase inversion switch and an analog volume control for those who might want to use the DAC straight into a power amplifier.

Worried about a recording
not being in phase, worry no more as the MiniMax DAC has Phase In and
Phase out select ability.

what does the phase button do? what setting should it be on.
Strangely it reverses the phase, IE makes it 180 degrees out of phase compared to normal. This can be useful as you might have a pre amp or power amp that is inverting, if so then set it to 180 degrees or out of phase. If not then leave it on 0 (or normal).

The thing to do is investigate what either your pre amp, power amp or integrated does. At the end of the day though not too many people can detect out of phase signals. As long as both speakers are wired up correctly as in "in phase" that is, it's difficult to detect a phase reversal on both channels

Thanks Man I appreciate it.

So since Im just using the Dac rca out to a Shiit Lyr I should just leave it on normal ?

Agreed, also have mine with the Lyr.

Also have the Musical Fidelity V-link to take care of the USB problems mentioned in some of the reviews.

Very happy with this setup, and my T-1, LCD-2, and HE-6 are so happy, they sing!
