The LD VI is pretty great with the HE-5LEs even with the amp on low gain setting.

The Virtue Audio 1 is a match made in heaven for the HE5LE , compared to systems costing 3 times as much the Virtue comes on top.

I got mine from Highflight as well as the HE5LE and he made me a nice pigtail adapter for a very reasonable price. The only reason he sold his 5LE and virtue was to upgrade to HE6 and Virtue Audio 2. Mr Ron also re terminated my other headphones to balanced and he did an amazing job.

Strangely, I did not expect my outdated LD MK5 can handle the He5le. However, after EQed up the bass a little bit, I found myself really enjoy the sound. the sound is stunningly good with clarity, speed similar to the Stax. more importantly, they have the bouncy bass added to that stax sound, which made them almost perfect for me.

Speaker terminals. I've owned the HE5-LEs and tried all options. Speaker terminals from almost any amp.
