You need to elaborate on what you mean.

Youre not making any sense.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Stereo = 2 channel, "Computer" speakers are also within the realm of Stereo.

If you plan to attach your Passive speakers to your Active speakers, you can if you have an amp hooked up to it and split the signal from your DAC to your multimedia and passive speakers.

If you are having  amp + speakers setup, you simply needed to connect the PC speakers to your amp's tape out via rca - female 3.5mm jack!

I want to do this exactly.... i am trying to attach the speakers from my stereo to my computer, without going through the stereo itself?

any information on this?

If you wanna do the other way round provided your existing stereo speakers are active.(built-in amplifier)

If they are not active, I'm afraid you 've to get a mini to rca cable to connect from your PC and adding a stereo splitter!

In essence you are using the source and the digital converter in your computer.  Your computer speakers are running off of the amp in your computer also.  Loudspeakers need more power to run efficiently without running out of current.  So the normal way is to go into an external amp, receiver, or something and hook your speakers up to that.

You can get a decent receiver cheap, at the Salvation Army with speakers ,that should do what you want, as long as you check the inputs to the receiver before you bring it home.

The receiver should also have a headphone out.
