For your consideration, the Ainol V9000HDA is now actually on sale at mp4nation.net

Audio will be my primary focus followed by video.

I think the Cowon J3 is a great choice. Cowon's players are renown for their sound quality, and I think the user interface is quite responsive and friendly when compared to similar MP3 players (except the iTouch but I hate Apple's guts when it comes to iPods ). As for a pure entertainment device, keep your eyes peeled on the Viliv P3 Prime; I wrote the following in the J3 impressions thread before: " it appears to be running a dual OS Android and Windows CE combo (very cool) and has an 800Mhz Arm Cortex CPU, a MicroSDHC card slot, 720p video support, capacitive touch screen, accelerometer, WiFi and comes in capacities up to 32GB." The screen is a 3.7" AMOLED device with a resolution of 480x800. I just did a Google search last night and found this. I am not sure if the price is confirmed or just an estimation, but currently a 32GB P3 with wifi sits at ~360 US$. (-EDIT: this price is for DMB included, which is useless to users outside Korea; the price for a non-DMB P3 should be lesser)

Cheers

The Teclast C350 might suit you. It has a Rockchip - albeit not latest generation afaik - for video and a Wolfson WM8988 for audio. the screen's only 3" though.

Wow, the P3 looks really cool. Any idea when of it it comes out in the states?

Agreed on the Archos for video.  Wish the sound quality was better for audio, though.  Not BAD, but not outstanding, either.

Looks like I will go with the J3. Everything else does not seem as polished.
