Mic recommendations for Korg MR-1

Thread Starter

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some mics that would be suitable for binaural recordings to work with the Korg MR-1.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on good quality low noise mics that are small enough to fit in a binaural head?

Cheers

Hi, I just saw this post. You should come over to taperssection.com

I guess the big question is your budget, and how small you want the rig to be. You pretty much need a battery box or preamp (depending how loud your source will be) and go line in because there is a lot of noise going mic in on the MR-1.

For small omnidirectional mics you can use for binaural recording, there are many good quality mics.

Off the top of my head, from least expensive to most:

1. Church Audio CA-14 (on the large side compared to the other mics mentioned), or Church Audio CAFS (tiny mics!)

2. Sound Professionals

3. Core Sound binaurals

4. DPA 4060/4061 (depending on what you're recording)

There are a ton of options out there! Again, let me know your price range, size limitations, or better yet, come over to taperssection.com!
