I had a change of heart and decided to keep this whole setup after all - it wasn't getting any use once I bought my M-Stage - but with a little re-organizing today - I figured out it makes a really great bedside rig and is perfect for that.
I'm torn on this but I'm consolidating and have a great deal for anyone who wants to get into Tube Amps - complete with an extensive set of tubes for rolling and an additional Op-Amp upgrade. I'm looking to sell the amp WITH the tubes - which I have spent the better part of 1-1/2 years collecting. Basically - without the amp - the tubes are useless to me. If you want to have years of pleasure rolling tubes, this is a great deal.
Part 1 - Little Dot I+ Hybrid Tube Amp - (110V) - with an upgraded LT1364 Op-Amp (I'll send the stock op-amp also). This was purchased 12/2009 - so it's a little over 5 months old. I liked it so much with my phones I sold my Little Dot MKIII. It drives all of my phones (k701s, D2000s, K271s, Grado 325is (sold a few months ago), and Grado SR60s) flawlessly. This amp is ideal for low impedance phones like Denon, Grado and AKGs.
Part 2 - Complete set of tubes (37 Tubes in All) - 3 compatible LD families (EF95, EF92, EF91). Believe me - I've spent a lot of time over the past 1-1/2 years tracking these tubes down - mostly via eBay sellers. There's an entire awesome LDI+ Tube Rolling Thread that is very helpful to read to learn more about many of these tubes (and Op-Amps for that matter). Following is a complete list of tubes. I have not tried each and every one since I have multiples so cannot with certainty guarantee every tube is good. I purchased all on eBay with the understanding they were - however. For example - part of this collection included (3) GEJan5654 tubes I won in an eBay auction. I tried 1 recently and noticed it was bad so I trashed it. I've tried most of these and can vouch that 95% or more are fine - I just want to state that up front. Tubes in this collection include the following; (4) Mullard 8083s, (5) Mullard EF91 Blue Glass, (4) Mullard EF91/6AM6 Blue Glass (my favorites), (2) Mullard 8161s, (2) Russian Voshod 6ZH1P-EVs, (4) RCA 5654s, (4) Mullard 8100s, (5) Raytheon 5654s, (2) GE 5-Stars, (2) GE Jan5654s, (1) GE Jan5654W, (2) LDI+ Chinese Stock Tubes...(Whew)! If you could appreciate how much time, research and money went into getting this collection - you'll know this is a really great deal. Many are pretty hard to find nowadays so this would save you a whole lot of time and effort.
Now to the business part - New LDI+ sell for about $138 shipped. I catalogued the tubes carefully along my purchasing journey - doing some quick math - I have spent well over $300 for these tubes over the course of the past 1-1/2 years (used some with my MKIII also). Note - for anyone who has a LD MKIII - all of these tubes are compatible (except perhaps the stock I+ tubes). So if you have an MKIII - and wanted to add the I+ to your collection these tubes would be a great investment and could be used for both.
All in - I spent about $438+ on this whole setup. I'm looking for $325 - Paypal - shipped CONUS. Here's my feedback:
