Is my plan sound? (pun intended!)

Hi there,

I've been lurking around on this site for quite some time now, and I'd like to thank all of you who contribute with your time and resources, I've had countless of hours of listening joy just because of you.

Okay, to the matter at hand. Currently I have a setup with computer as my source component, this is the one aspect that will not change anytime soon. I have roughly 3 terrabyte with music on my server, 99.9% of which is in FLAC, and yes, whenever I buy a new CD I rip it with EAC right away. I use Foobar as player, and up until today I've used Creative Emu1212m, with ASIO drivers --> regular cables --> Corda headfive --> AKG 701

Now my update/upgrade plan is simple. I needed to upgrade my hardware anyways, so I was thinking I'd go with Hegel D10, and kill two birds with one stone as it happens. I am never going with another Creative product again if I can help it (their drivers are horrendous), and I want to try an outboard DAC. The Hegel has a soundcard on board, so it seems like the right choice for me.More info here: http://www.hegel.com/hd10.htm

The Hegel D10 will only get me halfway there though, because I am seriously considering going all out and get the Decware CPS-2, and finally the Sennheiser HD 800 as well.

The end result will be something like this: Foobar using wasapi (foobar is the only player where I can have my entire music library in one huge playlist, one of the many things which makes it very convenient) ---> Hegel HD10 --> Decware CSP-2 ---> Sennheiser HD 800

Does it look good?

Any and all input you have would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Looks good to me.  I'd bet the performance boost you'd get would be amazing.  Just make sure that you try some high quality interconnects with gear that is that transparent. You may not notice any difference (I don't understand why not, but some people don't), but I'd bet it'll be mandatory to your ears for gear that good.  Other than that, "sounds" like a great plan to me.

Sounds like a plan.

Only thing is that you forgot to close your window and now your wallet has left the building.
