Ear Pain with new Equipment

Does anybody else get ear pain when they get new equipment?  I just got a Audio-gd Fun and while the amp/Dac sounds good, my ears hurt. Not that much, but they feel kind of tired or stressed.  The same thing happened when I switched headphones from my Audio-Technica ATH-A500 to A700.

 

Is this common and what causes it?  especially with the FUN?

As we all hear different frequencies, sometimes the ones we are most sensitive to are the frequencies that our headphones sometimes emphasize. This is a bad combo, for me I was getting headaches from certain cans for awhile from sharply accentuated highs. Trial and error, psychoacoustic burn in, headphone mods, amp synergy, cable upgrades, many factors and variables can help (or hurt, literally); YMMV.
